The COVID-19 archive was developed from a need to document the First Nations COVID-19 response in Manitoba from a First Nations perspective. This demonstration of First Nations-led responses highlights the impact self-determination and governance has on the safety and health of First Nations Peoples.

This is a collection of stories and reflections on the COVID-19 response in Manitoba as it relates to First Nations Peoples. Curated with the guidance of an advisory circle, the stories paint a picture of the experiences of First Nations people as they lived through a historic time. The stories from this collection have been either shared with the project directly through talking circles or those working directly in the pandemic or collected over the years from the internet. This work aims to present a representative picture of the COVID-19 experience, while recognizing there are stories missing.

Don't try to take what is ours and try to do it. Let us do it. […] We need to be in charge of all services.
